Have copyright questions?
. . .
Best to see a copyright specialist
I am not a copyright maven. And so I cannot help you with seeking permissions for any material you might want to use that exists under someone else’s copyright (as with quoting a line from a poem or a song, for example) — or even judging, for certain, what it is you’ll need to seek permissions for. Or, on the flip side, with protecting your own copyright.
But I can tell you about some great resources you can turn to.
If you need help identifying copyrighted material or obtaining the rights to use copyrighted content, you should check out The Copyright Detective. That guy is amazing. He knows this stuff inside out. If your question requires an attorney, he’ll let you know. And if you do need an attorney, you might check in with the Law Office of Kelley A. Way. She specializes in working with authors. (And she’s awesome.)
